As the clock struck midnight on the final day of 2016, everyone hoped last year’s events would turn into an ugly pumpkin and those inconceivable moments were just make believe. But as much as we would love to talk about the past, here at TTS, we want 2017 to be about wellness and self-care. Now more than ever, we’re going to take charge of our paths by taking care of ourselves and moving forward. And while we wish our Fairy Godmother would make an appearance to turn things around, today’s Boss Babe is actually making all our dreams come true.
When it comes to wellness and fitness, Vanessa Packer knows best. She is the co-founder of modelFIT, the boutique hotspot that helps you bring out your inner model. Packer, who originally started her career in the fashion industry doesn’t want you to feel intimidated by the name or the A-list star client list. She wants modelFIT to be the foundation for your wellness journey. With her expertise in holistic nutrition, she transformed the bespoke fitness scene by personalizing each workout and providing nutritional programs to their clients. With her strong view of the wellness world and her dedication to her craft, Packer is a Boss Babe that we’re so proud to write about to help begin the 2017 year. Meet the fitness goddess of our dreams, Vanessa Packer.

Tell us a little about yourself and where your passion for health and wellness came to be?
I’ve always been passionate about fitness and healthy eating. It wasn’t until I got my holistic nutrition degree that I thought I could turn [it] into a career. It’s evolved further than I could’ve imaged, and I just feel so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this wellness community and share my perspective and passion with more people.
What made you decide to open modelFIT? How did you know it was the right path for you to take?
It was the marriage of mindful nutrition meets mindful exercise. I truly thought it was the best workout I had ever done and I wanted to make it into a class so more people could experience it.
Before you got into fitness, you were a fashion stylist. Did those skills in that profession transfer at all while helping to create modelFIT?
Absolutely, especially as it pertains to design. I designed both studios in New York and Los Angeles. I don’t think I would have been able to do it without my background in fashion oddly enough.
How do you believe modelFIT stands out from today’s saturated boutique-style fitness studio market?
It’s based in functional movement. There’s actually a science behind what we do. It’s truly [a] movement for life that builds long lean sculpted bodies and confident presence.
How do you make sure health and wellness are #1 in your life?
It’s so ingrained in my being, it’s just in my nature.
Opening your own business is exciting yet challenging. How do you believe creating your own business help you grow in your own personal life?
I think when you love what you do it’s no longer just work, it’s how you live. Living in the gray, where work and life blend together. I think building a business now, in this climate, it’s hard to have it any other way.
Where do you hope to see yourself in the next five years?
Healthy, happy, thriving
Any advice for future Boss Babes, especially those looking to enter into the fitness world?
Love what you do and it’s not work. Trust yourself, but ask a lot of questions. I think having [a] purpose in what you do is the greatest feeling, because starting a business, there are so many instances where you have to be your biggest cheerleader or your biggest motivator. It takes thick skin and strong will, but if you believe in what you are doing, go for it!
