Suns out, guns out, and so are you. With the cold days behind us, now’s the time to meet new people (read: “love interests”) or simply reconnect with the friends you couldn’t bear traveling through the snow to meet. That’s right, now is the time to get out there and get your date on! Whether it’s with your latest crush or a friend you need to catch up with, here’s a list of Brooklyn date spots for any and every occasion.
Grab a Drink (and Oysters): Hotel Delmano
One of our favorite Williamsburg bars, Hotel Delmano has divided rooms towards the back that are great for cozying up– you know, for some late-night whiskey. Also, the open windows in the front are the perfect compliment to a glass of rose and oysters on hot Summer days.
Have a Brew and Be Active: Play Bocce ball at Floyd
Having an activity, like the Italian game Bocce ball, is always a solid ice breaker when you’re on a date. Floyd is the perfect spot for inexpensive beer, bourbon and playing a sport you never knew you loved.
Stroll Away: Brooklyn Botanical Gardens
It seems that most dates are centered around food and/or booze (ain’t nothing wrong with that!) However, it is good for the soul to get outside and breathe in some nature. So gather that flavor of the season and wander around acres of flowers and plants– you’ll forget you’re even in New York for an afternoon. Go now to see the hundred of Cherry Blossoms currently in bloom.
Catch a Flick: Habana Outpost
Outdoor movies are always high on the Summer hit list. While most are shown in New York parks, Habana Outpost is an under the radar Brooklyn go-to that we highly encourage. Sister restaurant to the ever-popular, Cafe Habana, Habana Outpost has a backyard space that’s hard to come by in the city. Every Summer Sunday at 8pm they show a movie drive-in style. So grab some guac and a margarita, and cuddle up for a good ol’ dinner and a movie.
Cozy Up and Eat: Aita
Aita is a hidden gem off the beaten path, tucked on a corner in Fort Greene. This neighborhood favorite focuses on Italian dishes with ingredients from local farms and greenmarkets. Not only is the food amazing, but the atmosphere is perfect for engaging conversations while still being in the midst of a bustling scene. If you can’t get in right away, grab a cocktail at the adjacent bar, Mayflower; believe me, it’s worth the wait.
Catch a Show: Baby’s All Right
Part bar, part restaurant, and part music venue that mainly Brooklyn cool-kids know about, Baby’s All Right is the one-stop shop for date nights. Unlike the greasy bar food and #basic cocktails served at most concert venues, Baby’s has a seasonally changing menu with crafted cocktails. That, plus the new “it” band or DJ playing each night, this place is just SO Brooklyn.
Get Your Group Date On: Royal Palms Shuffleboard
Whenever I used to hear the word “shuffleboard”, I would think of retirees in Florida passing their time. Well, now I think of an awesome drinking spot that doubles as a great spot for some healthy competition. Royal Palms Shuffleboard is perfect for group dates; you can now pre-reserve your own private cabana and court complete with unlimited beer and wine. Check out the schedule to see which of your favorite New York food trucks will be serving each day; Crif Dogs, Mexicue and Luke’s Lobster are all on the list.
