It’s been a long week. You’re over this whole “work” thing (we are too) and the rain isn’t making it better. But, don’t worry. It’s Friday, and it’s time to unwind for some much-needed “me-time.” So what’s the best way to do that in this hectic city we call home? The answer is really simple: by pampering ourselves. Taking care of our skin, body, and hair is a crucial way to decompress from the New York lifestyle — plus, it doesn’t hurt to feel pretty. This brings us to today’s story…

With a little bit of research, we’ve rounded up the coolest beauty shop concepts that will help you be on fleek (whatever the hell that means). From brow threading to personalized one-of-a-kind perfumes, this list is all you’ll need to get through the weekend. Ready to make some appointments?

Upon walking into this store, you already feel relaxed. White walls, fresh scented flowers, and minimal decor make Naturopathica a very cozy and clean place to be. Apart from the huge array of high-quality skin products that they sell, there’s also a spa that offers up massages and facial services. But that’s not all. This Chelsea location has a Vitality Bar in its storefront with juices and teas that incorporate the benefits of rare healing botanicals, herbs, and probiotics. At Naturopathica, they believe that skin health is both external and internal, so make sure you incorporate one of their juices into your beauty routine to round out the complete experience.

This facial shop in Flatiron is a skin (and life) savior. At Heyday, they believe one of the biggest challenges for New Yorkers is building a healthy skincare routine, so their mission is to reinvent the facial experience and training consumers to make facials a consistent part of their lives. Their services are convenient, affordable, and fits into our busy schedules — which makes it a win all around.

When we think beauty we usually think of hair, nails, and facial products — is that fair to say? But let’s not forget about a really important beauty product we use on the regular: perfumes. The fragrance industry is a multi-billion dollar one, so it’s safe to say we all really care about it. And while we tend to have our favorites, there’s only one brand that’s been disrupting fragrances for some time now and that’s Le Labo. At Le Labo, they assure you that whatever scent you choose will be deep, long-lasting, and high-quality — plus, you can watch the magic come together at any of their stores where they’re all manually compounded and labeled right then and there.

Where: 233 Elizabeth Street, Nolita, New York
14 W. 29th Street, Nomad, New York

We’re pretty sure you’ve shopped on their site, maybe even subscribed to their boxes for a few months. But now it’s time for you to visit their brick-and-mortar location that opened around two years ago. Located in Soho, Birchbox  has brought their entire experience to life, offering the best beauty products and salon services all under one roof. Greatest part? You can also get creative in their buffet-style BYOB section — Build Your Own Birchbox. This is basically the Willy Wonka of beauty shops.

Where: 433 W Broadway, Soho, New York

Hours: Mon – Sat from 11 AM to 8 PM, Sun from 11 AM to 6 PM

Brows: so hot right now. It’s safe to say we’re all now lamenting having plucked our perfectly bushy eyebrows way back when. Enter Wink Brow Bar: a brow/eyelash salon ready to make #BrowEnvy a thing of the past — and they’ve totally nailed it. Their West Village location is all you’ve been looking for, with affordable prices, a chic atmosphere, and complimentary champagne and temple massages. Um, where do we sign up?

Where: 7 Greenwich Av, Lower Manhattan, New York

Hours: Mon – Sat from 11 AM to 8 PM, Sun from 10 AM to 7 PM

Let’s talk about our nails now, perhaps the most frequently maintained surfaces of our bodies. If you’re anything like us, that corner nail salon just doesn’t cut it, and that’s totally okay because now we don’t have to subject ourselves to mediocre service and sub-par decor. Our cure: Paintbox. Paintbox is a high-design nail studio that creates beautifully crafted and modern manicures with designs and colors reminiscent of runway and editorial trends. If you are into nail art and colors, there’s no doubt this will be your new go-to spot (if you don’t trust us, check their dope Instagram account for some major mani inspo). Seriously though, life is too short to have boring nails.

Where: 17 Crosby Street, Soho, New York

Hours: Mon from 3 PM to 9 PM, Tues – Fri from 11 AM to 9 PM, Sat 9 AM to 9 PM, Sun 11 AM to 8 PM

Another nail favorite of ours is tenoverten, the health-conscious New Yorker’s answer to nail care. Their salons have a simple philosophy: to bring chic and long-lasting nails to a refined clientele thanks to their comfortable decor, and top-notch customer service. Now with four salons in NYC and a few national ones opening this year, they’re well on their way to becoming the most successful nail salon chain of all time. Bonus: they also have their own non-toxic polishes, a line of 8-free colors that promote strong and healthy nails. We can’t stress this enough: make tenoverten a must-visit if you haven’t already done so.

The Now

While not in NYC, we couldn’t leave this LA gem off the list because we know just how much you love massages — we also now how far and wide you’d travel for an Insta (just check out that sexy corner!). Though a total first world problem, the major issue with the massage industry is the second we see our expensive bills post-massage, our backs just seem to cramp right up again. The Now is solving said problem by offering relaxing massages at a fraction of the price (starting at $35.) Nope, we will not stfu.

Where: 7611 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, California

Hours: Tue – Sun from 10 AM to 10 PM
