Our Editors’ Holiday Gift Guide for the People You’re Closest To

Feature image via Airbnb

If you’re anything like me, the fact that Christmas is just around the corner has totally hit you by surprise and you, too, are far, far behind on shopping. In this case, you probably need a gift guide for the people closest to you. Luckily, we’ve compiled a list of everything we’ll be getting our friends, family, and significant others this holiday season to give you some serious (edito-approved) shopping inspiration.

Invest in some skincare! I’m currently obsessed with Tata Harper, Caudalie, and Supergoop.

I figured my friends need to feel cozy before the winter apocalypse comes. So I’m planning on purchasing this Dream Together Pajama from Free People. Why? Not only is it cute, but 100 percent of the profits go directly towards Girls Inc.

S.O.

Because my guy is always on the go, he’s in dire need of a new backpack. Cue in this one from SLATE. Plus, every time a backpack is purchased, they hand-deliver a backpack with essential tools that an American kid in need will need.

Honestly, if I had all the cheddar in the world, I would purchase a weekend getaway. So, this Malibu Airstream is calling my name.

For Secret Santa this year, I have my soon-to-be sister-in-law and she loves essential oils. So that’s why I’m going to gift her the Vitruvi diffuser with a few essential oils to end this year on a calm note.

Candles often get a bad rap (see: SNL’s Christmas Candle skit), but all of my friends are getting Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candles. You’ll find these on my own desk year round, but in an era when self-care is key, candles make an ideal gift for friends and coworkers. These ones don’t break the bank, but look seriously elevated — perfect if you’re not quite on a Diptyque budget.

I don’t have a S.O., because #singlelife, but if I did, he’d be getting a serious grooming upgrade. Men tend to be awful at skincare, so I’d gift this brand-new set from Panacea. I’m also so not a fan of beards, so a giftable shave set from Harry’s is in order.

I’m a self-proclaimed fitness addict (and in New York, the price of a class seriously cuts into my rent budget!). I’m eyeing a class pack from one of my favorite studios — which include Sky Ting Yoga, modelFIT, and  SLT,  to keep everything tight and toned in the new year (and counteract the inevitable holiday cookie binge).

This year, I’m getting my brother a leather passport cover — I happened to purchase this one from Leatherology. It makes the perfect gift for anyone who loves to travel, and many places allow you to add a personal touch or monogram that takes your gift to the next level.

This year I became sort of a “fitness addict”. As a result, what used to be weekday happy hour dates with my friends has turned into Saturday morning sweat sessions. I’ve been really into boxing and yoga lately, so I’ll be looking at studios like SHADOWBOX and Y7 for my friends to try.

I love a well-dressed man, and although I am single AF at the moment, my dream guy would be outfitted in Acne Studios. This jacket is so good, I’m pretty sure I could get away with wearing it, too.

I am obsessed with candles, they are the ultimate mood changer for me. This one from Tom Dixon has that crisp cedar smell I love. Plus, it doubles as art. I need it!

My dad is a runner, and I know he’d love this workout hack from Hickies.

9/10 my friends and I are far too broke to shop for one another individually, so instead, we do a White Elephant with gifts we ACTUALLY want, not a gag. Considering one of our HS alums is about to be a royal (and given that we loved badass women), I’ll be gifting this Fiercely Female 12 Month Calendar. Featuring women such as Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Coco Chanel, it’s the perfect feminist gift for anyone.

S.O.

Shopping for my boyfriend is no easy task but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. This Wool Waistpack from Aime Leon Dore gives a menswear touch to a truly functional bag that anyone would be lucky to have. Considering he’s been asking for something similar for a while, this might be the one.

I’m big on skincare and find that it’s one of the few things I allow myself to indulge in. So because it’s the holidays, I’ll be treating myself to a facial at Skin Laundry. Skin Laundry is reasonably priced and promises amazing results, so while there, I’m also going to pick up their 3-in-1 Cleansing Oil and their Clarifying Toner.

My mom was always hard to shop for, but that was until she found Buffy- a scrubby, exfoliating, and moisturizing shea butter bar from LUSH. Used in the shower just like a soap bar, it’s easy to use and perfect for nearly anyone who wants soft skin (which is all of us, right?) My mom deems it a critical addition to her shower routine and would probably die without it, so I always give her a one up on Christmas.
