Hotels: not just a place to crash anymore. As we enter a new era, it appears that more and more brands are jumping on the wellness bandwagon these days, and it’s easy to see why — we as consumers, now more than ever, are hyper-conscious of what we put into our bodies and are increasingly treating our workouts like social activities.
So it came as no surprise (but a happy one at that) when EDITION Hotels invited us to come experience their new partnership with Yoga For Bad People, a company known for its not-so-preachy approach to a vinyasa practice as well as its sexy world-wide retreats. This time, they’ve partnered with the chic hotel group to produce a series of in-room yoga videos for guests ranging from twenty-five and forty-minute classes, plus a guided relaxation class which take guests through a sequence of simple yet effective poses. The classes are designed with two purposes in mind: to wake the body up, or relax them into “namast’ay in bed” mode. The classes, which we tried first hand, are for all levels and guests can request yoga mats from the concierge prior to their practice. The videos are available at all three EDITION locations: NYC, Miami, and London.
As far as what’s next? EDITION strongly believes that wellness is now a global phenomenon and has taken the first steps in participating in the movement with these videos. EDITION’S VP of Brand Experiences, Ben Pundole, tells us, “[In] 2017, Edition hotels will focus more on wellness ensuring that as well as great restaurants and nightlife, guests can do an in-room class with Yoga For Bad People, enjoy mini bar items and room service treats from LA-based Moon Juice, and know that we’re working to protect the environment with our partnership with Parley for the Oceans, [who are] committing to getting plastics out of the hotels. Additionally, we’ll be offering yoga and meditation to employees. Looking forward to a happy and healthy year!”
