When it comes to sniffing out good cuisine, we’ll trust a chef’s opinion above anything else. An ultra-Instagrammable interior doesn’t make up for a bad meal, after all. In the never-ending quest to become the ultimate foodies, we took it upon ourselves to consult chef’s recommendations for the best spots in NYC. Scroll below to find which tasty locations your favorite NYC chefs are grabbing a bite to eat.

Llama Inn brings a taste of Peru to Brooklyn. The Williamsburg-based spot serves a variety of chef-approved meats, seafood, and Peruvian staples like sweetbread — oh, and their rooftop view doesn’t hurt, either.

We can’t help but fall for Le Barricou, a cozy French bistro that transports you straight to Paris. Grab a window seat for some fromage, paté, ou escargotand don’t worry, they serve plenty of pastries at brunch.

Frankie’s is Italian like the Italians do it. It’s fresh, casual (read: unpretentious), and classic. From burrata to grilled octopus, the menu has something for everyone. Frankie’s makes for the perfect rec for out-of-towners (just do the right thing and steer them away from Midtown, okay?)

The newer addition to the Momofuku family, Momofuku Ssam offers a large menu of fresh, innovative dishes. From light bites to heartier portions of fried dumplings and steak, Ssam is a solid, delicious spot for smaller groups.

Unsurprisingly, you can grab a taco alongside chefs at La Superior in Brooklyn. The menu is notably cheap, with street style tacos just $2.50 each. Hey, no one said fine-dining chefs have to eat the part.

Jack’s Wife Freda is a favorite of the Instagram crowd, the fashion crowd, the health crowd, the out-of-town crowd — hell, everyone loves Jack’s Wife Freda. There’s a reason you can never get a table, and that reason is the likes of their grain bowl, peri peri chicken, and green shakshuka among others.
