While June hasn’t been showering us with beach-appropriate weather for the past couple of days, our inboxes have been filling up with invites to summer-worthy events that gives us hope that hot, bathing suit-wearing days are right around the corner. As editors, it’s part of our job (and one of the perks) to attend as many events as possible so we can deliver up-to-the-minute info to you, our devoted readers. And because we’re fortunate enough to have a healthy amount of invites sent our way, we decided to give you the 411 about each and every one in this fancy AF post that we plan on updating every week. So grab a cocktail and scroll on to see what we’ve been up to.
Have you ever been so busy that you’d wish the beach would just come to you? Well, lucky for us (and a few other influencers/editors) it did. Our go-to rum brand, Malibu Rum, made our summer dreams come true by creating a beach-inspired oasis in the middle of the Concrete Jungle to announce their 101 Days of #BecauseSummer.
There’s only 101 days of summer so Malibu wants to celebrate every weekend of the 16 weeks of the summer…something we can get behind. Located at Sixty Hotel’s rooftop bar, Tiki Tabu, brightly-colored surfboards, pineapple decor, and Malibu items surrounded the guests as they wore plastic sunglasses while sipping on Malibu-printed coconut drinks. In each corner of the bar, there was a designated area for all your social media needs: a surfboard backdrop photo area, temporary flash tattoo shop, and a rum shack (because, duh). Partygoers were encouraged to embrace the spontaneity and carefree spirit of the best season of the year…#BecauseSummer.
As the sun set over the buildings, music began to the fill the air as special musical guests, Snakehips, took the stage. While the kick-off event lasted way past most of our bedtimes, this spontaneous rooftop party was the only way we would’ve wanted to began the first day of #BecauseSummer.
