Fall fashion is usually the epicenter of trend hypes, which can leave beauty in the shadows of fame. But what’s trending is not only indicative of silhouettes and ensembles, but hair and makeup as well. A bare face is a blank canvas and the runways showcased a number of ways to experiment with the space. Each beauty fad lends opportunity to highlight any of your best facial features. Whether it be your plump lips, doe eyes or sculpted cheeks, you’ll be sure to show off your assets with either soft or brazen appeal. From the season’s “It” lip color to the way to wear your hair, we’re giving you five of the best beauty trends to style come Autumn.
Berry, bordeaux, cherry, and oxblood. Whichever red you choose is the red to paint your lips with this fall. Whether it aligned with the 90’s goth girl look or paired with a dashing getup, 3.1 Phillip Lim (shown above), Dolce & Gabbana, and Céline made this classic shade feel revelatory. No matter the tone, red is unmistakably the lip color for fall. Wear it with a whisper of mascara and nothing else to draw attention to your luscious pout that is just as ready for cuddle weather as you are.
For some of us applying eyeliner is as habitual as brushing our teeth, so it may seem like an inauthentic trend to report. But this season makeup artists reinvented the lined lids wheel. Kohl went from basic to modern and cool with more exaggerated wings, geometric shapes, and floating lines shown at Mugler, Fendi, Rochas, and Suno (shown above). So rim your eyes while keeping the rest of your face naked for guaranteed eye contact. They are the windows to your soul after all.
A suitable trend for the upcoming season, models at Michael Kors, Tibi, Donna Karen, and Ralph Lauren (shown above) strutted down the runway looking as if they had been for a brisk walk in the crisp fall air. This feminine beauty trend consisted of muted lips and eyes to spotlight flushed cheeks in pink or peach making for a coy guise that felt organic. A perfect compliment to a healthy, glowing complexion, dust rose colored blush on the apples of your cheeks up toward the temple for a natural rush-of-blood-to-the-head look.
Natural, refined bedhead tends to be the runway staple season to season but for Fall 2015, hair was pulled way, way back into styles that blended downtown cool with uptown sophistication. Knots, chignons, twists, and buns were made contemporary at Victoria Beckham, Marc Jacobs (shown above), Balenciaga, and Oscar de la Renta as an ode to ladylike glam. Stray away from conventional pin straight hair or waves and throw your locks high up to the sky, then twist and pin it into a top knot. Finish with vampy lips for an edgy look.
Lids glittered and gleamed for eye-catching detail, as metallics and embellishments shone bright all over runways this season. Eyes were adorned with rose gold sequins at Temperley London, gunmetal and gold shared eye space at Mara Hoffman (shown above), and Sworovski crystals trailed beneath the lower lid at Rodarte. Try a gilded eyeshadow all over the lid or silver sparkles atop smokey gray for an exaggerated take on the trend. Want something a little more subtle? Replace black liner with bronze for a futuristic cat eye.
